That was the first September reading below 50°F (10°C) since September 30, 2009. It was the coolest September reading since September 29, 2000 when the temperature fell to 43°F (6.1°C). The last time the temperature was at least as cool this early in the season was September 20, 1993, when the mercury fell to 44°F (6.7°C). In the New York City suburbs where the photo was taken, the temperature fell to as low as 40°F (4.4°C).
