Devils Gulch, South Dakota

08 Jan 2023 16 9 350
Reflections in the pool at the bottom of this scenic gulch. It is famous, because outlaw Jesse James was supposed to have jumped the gulch on his horse in order to elude the posse. It is mysterious because no one has been able to find the bottom. All in all, this is a very unusual place, located in an otherwise typical midwest small town. (Various areas nearby were treated as sacred by the Native Americans.) www.southdakotamagazine.com/devils-gulch Image processed with GIMP, cropped to square format.

College Fjord

Taken on our 2007 cruise in Alaska. This is just one sight in College Fjord. The glaciers and mountains are quite spectacular. We later discovered that most of the time, the sun does not shine here, and the fjord is often shrouded in fog and mist.

Hong Kong at Night

Every time we've visited Hong Kong, the night views have been spectacular. In the old days, it was incandescent bulbs, then neon. Now, vast amounts of LED's (and lasers) light up the night sky. This is an example of the very good high ISO capability of the Panasonic GX85. More night photos at: swansongrp.com/P/p/night_narrative/index.html

Reflection, Bergen, Norway

This was near the stern of one of the tall ships in Bergen, and I was quite taken with the reflection in the water. Only when I processed the image did I note that this became like an abstract painting. During our 2014 "Voyage of the Vikings" cruise, we stopped in Bergen for the day. Imagine our surprise, when we discovered that there was a "tall ships" event taking place. We enjoyed walking around the harbor admiring the classic sailing ships, and checking out the wonderful produce available in the stands.
