Snail in Vysehrad, Picture 3, Edit LoRes Version,…

14 Jul 2013 137
I've seen considerably larger snails than this one, but this is the largest one I've photographed in the wild. I was actually worried that this one would be stepped on, since it was trying to cross one of the paths in Vysehrad, but it wasn't possible to remove it without killing it, so I left it.

View of Podoli from Vysehrad, Prague, CZ, 2012

14 Jul 2013 137
I've shot photos from this location many times before, but I figured I would give it one more try. I think the reflections in the harbor came out well in this shot. The harbor connects Podoli with the River Vltava, out of the frame to the right, which would be to the West. This view is rougly to the south from the parapet of Vysehrad.

Old Tennis Courts in Vysehrad, Picture 2, Prague,…

14 Jul 2010 223
These tennis courts have been in this condition for the whole time I've been in Prague. I don't know how old they are, but they never seem to be in use. At the same time, they're not too overgrown, so it gives me the impression that someone is caring for them.

Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Edited version,…

14 Jul 2010 196
The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is one of the older churches in Prague, although the site is far older. Many of the vaults in Vysehrad castle, which has no keep (like Prazky Hrad) have exhibitions of art treasures that are too valuable to keep above ground, although many other statues and sculptures can be found in the gardens around the Basilica.

View from Vysehrad, Picture 4 Edit, Prague, CZ, 20…

Here's my fourth shot taken from Vysehrad, with the castle wall visible in the lower right.

View from Vysehrad, Edited Version, Prague, CZ, 20…

14 Jul 2010 294
This was the first of a series of photos I did on a long walk through Prague on the 12th of June. I've got more photos on the way shortly, from the next roll of film.

Vysehrad in the Snow, Picture 2, Prague, CZ, 2010

16 May 2010 354
This shot was taken from just outside the Vysehrad Metro Station. The structure barely visible on the far right is Nuselsky Most, I think. The domed building in the distance is the largest Russian Orthodox church in Prague.

Vysehrad Metro Station, Prague, CZ, 2010

16 May 2010 397
Vysehrad had an exceptional amount of snow, maybe because the whole neighborhood (formerly a seperate city) is on a hill. This is an exterior view of the Metro station.

Nadrazi Praha-Vysehrad, Prague, CZ, 2009

10 Aug 2009 299
As we left on the mainline for Beroun, our first station, as always, was Vysehrad. To the best of my knowledge, this is no longer a scheduled stop, but even though this is the case and the station is so rundown that it looks abandoned, it is still a staffed station, for whatever reason. Even more unusually, we stopped here on this trip, for what reason I don't know. As far as I can tell, there's no legal access to the tracks for the general public anymore, so it couldn't have been for passengers, or could it have?

Tourboat "Andante," Prague, CZ, 2009

29 Jul 2009 313
There was, as usual, a lot of other traffic on the river, mostly tourboats and private boats rather than ferries, though. This was the "Andante,"; a tourboat.

Vysehrad from Ferry "Blanice," Prague, CZ, 2009

29 Jul 2009 301
After we got underway, the main scenic attraction on the way was Vysehrad, seen here.

Maple Leaves, Vysehrad, Prague, CZ, 2007

02 May 2008 444
If these aren't maple leaves, please correct me. :-) I don't know a whole lot about trees. :-) Anyway, while I was walking around Vysehrad, I saw the opportunity to get this closeup, as well as a few others that I haven't posted. I think this is the best of them.

Flagpoles, B&W version, Corinthia Towers, Vysehrad…

02 May 2008 429
Therefore.....given that my other shot is hard to distinguish from a black and white photo, I made this version black and white. I think that in the end it's the better photo, although I could be mistaken.

Flagpoles, Corinthia Towers, Vysehrad, Prague, CZ,…

02 May 2008 480
The Corinthia Towers hotel is so close to the Metro that it's almost integrated with it. I saw the opportunity to compose this shot with the flagpoles, but now that I have the image in my computer I'm noticing that the fog was really, really thick. It's so dominant in this photo, in fact, that it takes a few seconds to tell if it's color or black and white.

Fall Colors, Picture 6, Vysehrad, Prague, CZ, 2007

Here's another shot of the parkland around the Vysehrad Metro station.

Fall Colors, Picture 4, Enhanced, Vysehrad, Prague…

02 May 2008 424
To get the most of this shot, I had to resort to editing in Gimp. I think it looks a lot better now, though, and is now worth posting.

Fall Colors, Nuselsky Most, Vysehrad, Prague, CZ,…

02 May 2008 494
I liked the Fall scene that I spotted from the Metro station so much on this particular day that I got off the train. The fog kills some of it, unfortunately, made more unfortunate by the fact that it actually made the scene more impressive in real life, adding to the massive scale of Nuselsky Most.
