These are all detail photos of plants in Big Bend National Park, this of the spines on the edge of a leaf of the Havard agave.

I've only a few more photos to post from Big Bend National Park and from the Window Trail, the last trail we hiked in the park. The plant on the right is a Havard Agave. Having bloomed the main plant dies back and you can just see the new plant emerging next to it and behind it.

One of our favorite plants in Big Bend National Park was this beautiful agave. We photographed them many times, here on the rocks along the Window Trail.

This photo and the insets are all of plants or plant parts photographed along the Boot Canyon trail in the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park. This is the dried flower spike of Havard Agave. These Agaves bloom infrequently but when they do produce a spike that can be over 20 feet tall.

This beautiful Havard Agave was photographed along the Laguna Meadow trail in the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park.

The Havard Agave takes many years to bloom and when it does the plant soon dies but sends up offsets that eventually grow into a new plant.

These plants were everywhere in Big Bend National Park in Texas and I wanted to photograph every one.
