This White-crowned Sparrow was one of the birds we saw and photographed on the Fortynine Palms trail in Joshua Tree National Park.

This is a White-crowned Sparrow, much less common than the House Sparrows and only around at our feeders for a few weeks in late winter. They range over most of North America, however, and we have seen them as far north as Alaska and as far south as the California desert.

Not the greatest of bird photos, nor the most uncommon of birds, but a cute little guy nonetheless. The photo was taken in Denali National Park, but the range of the White-crowned Sparrow is over most of North America.
