Not sure of the ID on these but they seem to fit the description of Marsh Violets, Viola cuculata. They were photographed in Dowagiac Woods in Cass County, Michigan.

Reecer Creek Canyon near Ellensburg, Washington, is one of our favorite places for spring wildflowers. These Sagebrush Violets were photographed there several years ago. We found them there by the thousands. These is another photo in the inset.

This was photographed along the Harding Icefields trail in Kenai Fjords National Park. We saw more wildflowers here than anywhere else on our Alaska trip, especially along the part of the trail that goes through Marmot Meadows. The Wood Violet is a common North American and European species.

Evergreen Violet

There are nine species of yellow violets that are found in our area and they are not always easy to tell apart, but I am reasonably certain that this is the Evergreen or Redwood Violet, Viola sempervirens. It was photographed along the Westside Road in Mount Rainier National Park this past spring. We were too early for most of the wildflowers, but did find these and a few others. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.ca/2012/05/mount-rainie...

These were everywhere when we drove up Reecer Canyon Road a few weeks ago. In one area especially there were thousands of them. The Sagebrush Violet is Viola trinervata and it grows in drier areas in eastern Washington. The flowers in the background are Spring Beauty. I posted a picture of them several days ago. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2013/04/reecer-cree...
