Dendrobium christyanum is from Thailand, Vietnam and China and has huge flowers for the size of the plant. My plant is about 5 cm tall and the flowers are about the same size. It belongs to the group of Dendrobiums known as nigrohirsute Dendrobiums, referring to the black hairs with which the plant is covered and it is sometimes found under the older name, Dendrobium margaritaceum It blooms in the summer and is temperature tolerant. The flowers are fragrant.

Paphiopedilum sukhakulii is a species from Thailand. It is a small plant but has large and dramatic flowers. My plant almost always blooms with two flowers per stem, rather than just one. The flowers are 10-13 cm across. Not only are the flowers beautiful, however, but the plant is too, with beautifully patterned fans of leaves.

This is Paphiopedilum sukhakulii from Thailand, an orchid species and one of my favorite slipper orchids. Usually this blooms with only one flower but for some reason my plant always produces two flowers.

Paphiopedilum sukhakulii is from Thailand and is a small Lady's Slipper with beautifully mottled foliage (visible in one of the pictures at the link below). The flowers are average for the species, about five inches across. This is a first bloom seedling and what is rather unusual for the species, has two flowers on one flower spike.

I've decided to post some pictures of my orchids, especially of those that have recently been blooming, and this is one of them, Dendrobium christyanum from China, Thailand and Vietnam. It belongs to a group of Dendrobium that have plants and leaves covered with short black hairs. The plant is a few inches tall and the flowers an inch.
