These photos of hoarfrost were taken on one of our walks near our home. I am going to let you guess what it is the frost is covering, but the barbed wire may be clue that makes it easy to guess.

I was out in the car on a very frosty and foggy morning several weeks ago and saw this fence post with the barbed wire wrapped around it so I turned around at the next crossroad and went back to get photos.

We had freezing fog and heavy hoarfrost the morning this was taken. I had noticed this from the car, turned around and stopped along the road for photos.

This frosted barbed wire was the result of a night of freezing fog. I noticed the wire coiled around the old fence post and stopped the car for photos.

Taken on a morning of freezing fog, this barbed wire was loosely coiled around an old fence post and caught my eye as I was driving past. After turning around and stopping along the road, I was able to get some photos as well as a shoe full of snow.

Camas Marsh

This photo is completely untouched. It was taken later in the day as the sun was setting and the strong blues must be the result of the lighting. They certainly are not the result of any tweaking in Photoshop.
The picture shows the marshy area near Medical Lake, Washington, where we found thousands of Common Camas growing, the flower shown below. Some of them can be seen in the photo and the blue in the background is a large drift of them.
More information on the Common Camas and its use as food by the Indians and early settlers can be found in the description of the flower below. They are not as common as they used to be, however, as a result of the drainage of marshes and wetlands.

The day before Thanksgiving Day we had our fist snowfall of the year (hopefully also our last). On the holiday we went for a walk with our cameras and took pictures of the snow. This is one of them, taken just a few blocks from home. Others are here: ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2010/12/walking-in-...
