Taken in the Skagit Valley north of Seattle in the fields of the bulb growers, this fallen daffodil flower caught my eye as I was attempting to capture the reflections of the daffodils in the water between the rows.

When I was back in western Washington recently I visited the Skagit Valley to see how the tulips and daffodils were coming along in the fields of the bulb growers. There were no tulips blooming yet and the daffodils were just starting. This is one of the few fields I found.

We were out last week Tuesday evening for a little while to see the tulip and daffodil fields in the Skagit Valley. The tulips were just starting to show color except at this farm where they were all in bloom. We concluded that they must have some way of forcing them en masse, but have no idea how.. These are display gardens so that is even more likely. In any case we stopped just befopre closing time and took a few pictures from the parking area since we did not want to pay the entrance fee for only a few minutes. The photo is my wife's.

This is another photo from the display gardens are Roozengaarde. By the time we had been there a few hours the place was jammed with people, so we went on to Washington Park and came back later in the evening when the crowds had thinned.

This is another shot from the field where many of the tulip flowers had been removed to conserve the energy of the bulbs in preparation for their being dug and sold when the foliage has died back.

Another shot taken in the tulip fields of the Skagit Valley. We had a very nice day, but the weather has been very wet this spring, as is obvious from the photo.

Yesterday we visited the garden at Roozengaarde's, one of the big bulb growers in the Skagit Valley (actually they are now a division of Washington Bulb Company). This photo was taken in their display gardens. We went to see the fields, wen to the display gardens early in the morning and then left because it was so busy, but returned later in the evening for more pictures.

Monday we visited the Skagit Valley to see the tulip fields. This was one of the many photos we took. I tried to take some pictures that were a little different from usual "acres of tulips" photos, and this, looking toward the North Cascades from a low vantage point, seemed worth posting. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/05/skagit-vall...
