This charmer has gone through several name changes since I came to know him. I learned first to call him an Oregon Junco, then a Black-headed Junco and now he's being called a Dark-eyed Junco, but by any name a cute little bird. Those that come to our feeders vary a great deal in coloring but are all the same species according to the experts.

I learned this bird as the Oregon Junco, but it has since become the Black-headed Junco and in turn the Dark-eyed Junco. It is, besides Sparrows, one of the most common birds in our area.
