Wast Water from the south

07 Nov 2020 22 24 256
The English Lake District. A view of this wonderful wild lake from the very south west shore. The way around the lake from here is either along a very rough scree path which is slippy and a little dangerous on the right or through the woods on the left (Low Wood) and then along the lakeside path which parallels the minor but sometimes busy road. That is where most of the visitors here walk, us too! We are looking towards Yewbarrow and High Fell. England's highest mountain Scafell Pike sits just out of sight to the right here. Enjoy full size.

Storm lighting at Rossbeigh.

The storms have gone - for the time being, but the moody lighting hangs about for some time yet. A lone walker chances the weather and it is another chance to get a much liked mood shot for me. Best enlarged. Pip

Storm at Rossbeigh

21 Jan 2019 26 29 353
After a night of torrential rain, the day starts wet and very windy with gust up to 70mph. Anyway, not deterred, we took to the beach that we could see clearly form our lounge window. As you can see, with the wind blowing spume and sand everywhere - this was not for the feint hearted with an expensive camera kit in hand. Forgive the slight softness of the picture here, I had to wipe my lens a few times to rid salt water and sand :) About a mile of this walk before we gave up and retreated for coffee back in the warmth.

Evening falls at Rossbeigh

At the end of a marvelous day doing the Ring-of-Kerry tour, we are greeted by scenes like this near our cottage at Rossbeigh. The left side demonstrates the contrast levels between the bright sunset reflections and the en-shadowed hills and foreshore.

A vision of St Brides

A very enjoyable moment here at St Brides in Wales. A rare moment of sun and blue skies in this mid-summer trip.

The calm before the storm here at the waters edge.

Dawn at Cap Negret

21 Feb 2018 7 4 431
As the night turns slowly to day, I take the rare chance of capturing the sun rising. Normally the fist sight of the sun is the most exciting and best thing to photograph but in this case I like this pre-sunrise better. The dark blue of the night sky turning to a blood-red just around the famous Penyal d'Ifac at Calpe is a crowning point to rest my eye on. Enlarged, one can easily make out the night fishing boats with their lights. Tech info: 34mm Nikon at F7, 1/6th sec iSO 1250, tripod mounted.

Ye Olde boat winch

19 Feb 2018 11 7 389
On the shores of Platja L'Olla looking North East we see here an old winch. Long since gone rusty, no doubt to hoist boats like this onto the foreshore. Maybe it still works as someone does not want it to be used or moved hence the locks.

Parga and its environs

The beautiful coastal town of Parga is the setting of this scene. A rather dull day for me but I have kept this picture natural as it portrays a special feeling.
