On our way back now to our start-point here on Crummock Water. A nice bit of colour on this rather grey day brightens things up a little before the next set of rains. Nearby a rather nice fence for a future HFF perhaps.

A visit to Crummock Water

Our second full day here in the Lakes and its Crummock Water for us, despite the bad weather forecast and a constant drizzle as we set off. - So here we are just starting along this muddy Western shore from the South. Rain gear donned and a quick wipe to clear the water drops from my lens,to capture this one. I am sure that this is the average look of the lake and its surroundings. Fortunately, the weather was to improve before we got back.
Enjoy.
Life on the edge

As I come to the end of this days marvellous walk around Loweswater I get a glimpse of what some other people see permanently. To live and work from these traditional farm buildings and cottages with such a view it would seem to us people from the towns almost like being in heaven. Alas, life in the countryside has always been hard and sometimes a great view hardly compensates for those hardships. Anyway, lets share a bit of their life with this vista which I am sure changes by the hour.

Another Loweswater fence shot for you here. In fact this is the same fence as in my last HFF offering (see Pip). This view west, towards our west coast beyond the hills has none of the exciting high vistas as can be seen to the other end behind me but I think you will agree that it is quite agreeable all the same.
HFF and I wish you all, a safe weekend, Herb
Flyfishing on Loweswater

An idyllic location for such a sport here on banks of Loweswater. The silence of the scene broken only by bird calls and the sound of my shutter. We are looking here towards the southern end of the lake which is only two kilometres distance from the next lake of Crummuck Water. Our walk continues in that direction with this lake before we double back much higher.
As always, made to be viewed full size here.

A low view from the banks of Loweswater here in the Lake District. As you can see the typical are weather comes into play here but I hope it does not mar your enjoyment of this.

After almost six months of virtual isolation within Covid 19 lock-down conditions we finally manage to escape back to the country. A week here will feel like a week of heaven but care must still be taken in our isolated holiday cottage. At least I will be able to share that trip with you here on Ipernity now that we are back home.
- We are in what is commonly called the West Lakes. Our holiday cottage for a week is only minutes away from here and at this moment we are taking a small hike revisiting this spot after some years of absence. Our path continues traversing down the hill to the left to join the wider trail seen below. In the far distance you might just make out the edge of the Solway Firth (Irish Sea). Above us we can hear but not see the plaintive call of a local osprey.
"Cogra Moss is a beautiful enclosed forest surrounding a shallow reservoir to the east of the village of Lamplugh on the western edge of the English Lake District. It was created by the damming of Rakegill Beck in about 1880, though its function as a water supply ceased in 1975."

A first holiday for many months brings me to the English Lake District. Here at Cogra Moss near Ennerdale Water I spot this twisty-turny fence reminding me a little of a cork-screw. All around me, beauty and isolation –what more can we ask for in these strange times.
HFF. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
The Wonders of Mallorca: Cúber

Our trip today is a mix of mountains and coast. Here we are at what I consider one of the most impressive regions of the Island; the Lake of Cúber. Interesting peaks all around me including the very impressive Puig Major. Today we have only a quick peek of this area before travelling onwards for we will return on another day for a real hike around the nearby Gorg Blau.
Cúber is an artificial water reservoir located at the valleys of Puig Major and Morro de Cúber, on the island of Majorca, Spain. With the Gorg Blau, they provide water to the city of Palma de Mallorca and the surrounding areas by the Almandrà torrent.

Situated between Killarney and its South West coast sits this lake, which in blue skies and crisp air must be a real beauty. On this very wet September day though, a place for fishermen and mad photographers only. Moments after taking this, the heavens opened again and we could no longer see the lake at all.

One of our 'Lake District' lakes -Loweswater on a calm day like today is a lake of dreams. I am almost afraid to make a sound with the camera in fear of braking this mirror spell. Enjoy!
