Life in Lock-down fence.

As since Thursday midnight, our second Covid National lock-down starts to take hold, we see here a refreshing view of life before all that. In reality this was taken some eight or so weeks ago and so restrictive meetings of groups was still in place. I presume these people were then in one family or in one of our now famous ‘bubbles’! - I for one, was certainly not going to break up their little bit of freedom.
HFF. Have a very safe and enjoyable weekend.

The Wonders of Mallorca: Sóller – Its trains and…

Taken from the terminus at Sóller, it has just been filled to the brim with tourist and heads back to Palma. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to take a trip on this. Instead we used the local Port de Sóller to Sóller tram to get here and back. See PiP's.
This famous 110 year old narrow gauge railway runs 27km from the capital Palma to the town of Sóller. At 3ft wide (914mm) it is a true narrow-gauge track and runs through some of the most spectacular scenery in Majorca. This overcomes the natural barrier of the ‘Sierra de Alfàbia mountain range’ in just 7km. It runs thorough 13 tunnels and over several bridges, the most impressive being the five arched “cinc-ponts” viaduct. As you see here, the engines are electrified by over-head wires.

Goth invasion at Whitby.

For one week (at least) a year, the Yorkshire town of Whitby is invaded by Goths. Mainly because much of the book: Dracula, was based there. This character standing in the cemetery by Whitby Abbey has a certain appeal, don't you think!!!!

A long view into this Yorkshire holiday resort. Demonstrating that a day at the seaside is always worth a paddle even in such cool dull weather.

A meeting in the narrow streets of Volterra is the setting for this candid capture. The red top of the girl ties in well with the red geraniums and sun-shade. I must admit to liking the rustic tones of the walls here too in this light.

Memories of Tuscany: Piazza Duomo Archways

You have to be in San Gimignano to really appreciate the medieval beauty and history of this place. Here we are in perhaps the very heart of this walled town, at the 11th c Piazza Duomo. The steps belong to the Bassilica S.Maria Assunta and the building on the left is the Town Hall (Comune San Gimignano) and I am under the archway of a big towered building called Torre Rognosa.
It is warm and bright here; hence many of the visitors seek these squares for a quiet place to relax in the shade. The town has many stoned archways; here we can see four alone.

** HERE IS HOPING THAT WE CAN GET BACK TO SHARING WITH OUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COMMUNITIES SOON! **
A dull wet windy day at Blackpool can be made quite bright. Here we have an insight into one of my other hobbies (Ballroom dancing) as we see the dancers take to the floor on this Monday afternoon tea-dance. In the background, we can spot the famous rising Wurlitzer organ.

This was just the beginning of our recent snow storm. This chap had an important mission. Click on the PiP's to see what that was.
(Move mouse over picture to reveal two PiP's (picture in picture) boxes. When mouse pointer on these, they reveal new pictures.)
