The Dingle Garden is located within the Quarry Park in Shrewsbury and features ornamental season flowerbeds, ornamental grass areas, rockeries, shrub bed areas and various water features and is locked up and unlocked daily. For some reason it was totally locked yesterday, maybe because of the very strong wind, and the threat to trees, so I took this photo from one of the gateways. I think the pink tree is a type of maple, but I'll check the next time we are here.

Mottisfont rose gardens

Mottisfont's walled gardens are home to the National Collection of pre-1900 old-fashioned roses, which are in full bloom just once a year. The perfume was heady. I was very lucky to get a photo with no-one in the frame.

Originally founded as an Augustinian priory in 1201, the house has seen a number of transformations over the last 800 years, shaped by its many and varied owners. Now it reflects the life and passions of Mottisfont’s fascinating last owner, society hostess and arts patron Maud Russell.

Aeonium arboreum 'Atropurpureum' is the purple-black foliage form of Aeonium arboreum and its dark colouration and perfect geometric rosettes combine to create a truly stunning plant that is ideal for bedding out in the summer.

Macro Monday: Show small things or animals (insects) in motion. This was quite a hard challenge. There are very few insects around now, but spiders aplenty. I was watching this garden spider repairing a web when a sudden gust of wind caused the spider to vibrate very quickly, but left most of the web relatively still as you can see. The PiP shows the same spider at rest. Many many rejected trials. :-)

The mid-summer gardens in Old Stavanger are a delight, but the arrival of huge cruise ships into port often spoils the view for the inhabitants. Tourism is supposed to be good for the local economy, but I know for a fact that many folks just stay on board.
