What I love about this mural is the fact that it has been done by removing the surface rendering. It's such a pity that it has been paint-balled though.

The Eastgate Clock, Chester

hFF Everyone, and stay safe and dry if possible. Did you know - the Eastgate Clock is the second most photographed clock in the UK? And can you guess which is the first most photographed clock in the UK? Installed in 1899, the Eastgate Clock is positioned on the bridge over Eastgate Street in the city of Chester, the original entrance to the Roman fortress of Deva Victrix. The whole structure of the public clock and gateway, as one, is classified as a Grade I listed building. Although the original gate was Roman, the present gate was built in Georgian times to allow coaches through. However, the clock wasn’t added until the Victorian era to celebrate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee.

The Pierhead Building (Welsh: Adeilad y Pierhead) is a Grade I listed building in Cardiff Bay, Wales. One of Cardiff's most familiar landmarks, it was built in 1897 as the headquarters for the Bute Dock Company, and was designed by the English architect William Frame. Incorporating a French-Gothic Renaissance theme, the Pierhead boasts details such as hexagonal chimneys, carved friezes, gargoyles, and a highly ornamental and distinctive clock tower. Its exterior is finished in glazed terracotta blocks supplied at the end of the 19th century by J. C. Edwards & Co. of Acrefair, near Ruabon in Wrexham County Borough; The clock on the building is unofficially known as the "Baby Big Ben" or the "Big Ben of Wales". Oslo Opera House

The Oslo Opera House (Norwegian: Operahuset) is the home of The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway. It was designed by Snøhetta, an international architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and brand design office based in Oslo, Norway. Construction started in 2003 and was completed in 2007, ahead of schedule and 300 million NOK (~US$52 million) under its budget of 4.4 billion NOK (~US$760 million). The gala opening on 12 April 2008 was attended by His Majesty King Harald. The roof of the building angles to ground level, creating a large plaza that invites pedestrians to walk up and enjoy the panoramic views of Oslo. While much of the building is covered in white granite and La Facciata, a white Italian carrara marble, the stage tower is clad in white aluminium, in a design by Løvaas & Wagle that evokes old weaving patterns. It is sited in Oslo’s old Bjørvika harbour area and was the first building in a comprehensive urban development project for the area. When I was there, development was ongoing, and many of the roads were either blocked or only passable through a pedestrianised section alongside the harbour. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oslo_Opera_House

HFF everyone. Sitting on the fence

Norwich lies at the centre of a great agricultural area, and it was for many centuries an important centre for trade. The Saxon market was located in Tombland area of the City, and after the Norman Conquest of 1066, a new market was established in the area known as the 'Mancroft'. By the 1300s, the main market in Mancroft stretched from Guildhall Hill very nearly to St Stephen's Church, which can be seen on the right. Fish, meat, cloth, vegetables, shoes, livestock and many other items were each sold on their particular pitch or place. By the end of the 1600's, the market was becoming so congested that a new site for livestock sales had to be found, but it was not until 1738 the livestock market was moved to the "Castell Dykes", which is the area below the castle mound. It's no longer there now.
