Make search non-case sensitive

I've been importing my chunks of photos from Flickr and starting to organize them into albums. I've discovered that, while Flickr search is not case sensitive, ipernity search is case sensitive. I'm an inconsistent tagger -- sometimes "London" and other times "london." Could the case sensitivity in search be turned off by the admins?

Thanks.

Me too.
It doesn't solve the search problem but you can get a list of tags you've used from the search by keywords link in the left sidebar. It does at least give an indication of how inconsistent you've been with case. You can also use it to get a bunch of photos with a particular tag. I've found it useful at times. You might already have discovered this?

Yes that tag list is useful for tidy-minded types as you can easily spot where you have inadvertently used a capital (or missed one out) and fix it right there.

But I am interested to try and get to the bottom of case-sensitivity because I have definitely made some image searches where the case doesn't matter. Does it depend how you search, or perhaps it is only an issue for non-image searches???

I'm finding that the case-sensitivity is an issue when I'm using the organizer (I'm trying to make albums). For example, I did a keyword search in the organizer for east end and got 110 results. I cleared that search and did another keyword search on East End and got 38 results.

Then I went to my photo page and used the search box in the left sidebar (thanks, Jen, I didn't know about that). There, the keyword search on East End and east end gave me the same results -- 148 photos.

It's good to know that the general search seems not to be case-sensitive, but I'd like to see that in the organizer as well, as that's where I really need it to recreate my sets/albums.

Thanks - I see the issue now.

Until fixed it's probably back to the keywords/tag list. I am about half way through fixing my tags for case issues - mainly to be tidy.

(you do have to be a little careful with tags that have a space not to inadvertently end up creating two or more separate tags).

Thanks, Andrew. My tags have all come over with my photos from Flickr -- I either created them in Picasa before my original upload or I did the tagging in Flickr. I'll be sure to pay attention when I start tagging new stuff in ipernity.

One other difference that seems to apply is that whereas Flickr stripped spaces from keywords when calculating search results, ipernity doesn't (in all searches).

I'm having another problem with search in the organizer. I can't search there on multiple keywords, e.g. london church. Multiple keyword searches seem to work outside the organizer, but not in it. This is really frustrating as I'm trying to create some new albums based on two or three keywords. Any advice is much appreciated.

It's odd, the way the search here works differently in different places. I've had the same problem - not being able to search on more than one tag in organizer. In organizer you can choose 'all text' or a keyword (i.e. just one). Outside organizer I think it must be using both tags and text although I haven't come up with a good way to test this yet. It's very frustrating being able to find a bunch of pics that you want to do something with via the regular search but then there's no way of actually doing it. But in the organizer you can't find them...
