In Thailand it's a tradition for every buddhist men to ordain as a monk at least once. Some ordain for a whole year while others do it for just for some weeks.
Ordaining gives the chance to study and practice the Buddha's teachings.
After getting a monk they stay in simple cottages or houses, but simple does not mean poor. This housing was like staying in the garden of eden.
