It has been that cold for a longer time that it is save to do ice fishing on the Vanhankaupunginlahti (bay of the old town) in Helsinki.

not at all, but I like to ski on the ice and make long trips along the coast.
Many years ago I did some ice fishing in the countryside on the lakes as part of long ski trips.
