Kinder Station Sign

Kinder Station Sign
This was a new find today on Kinder Road in Hayfield.
A picture in picture shows the information board at the side. The story in brief is that this was the site of a temporary workers village (for 700 men) during the building of Kinder Reservoir which was opened in 1912 and a Standard Gauge Railway was built to take the materials some at least must have been from the Quarry which is now the Car Park at Bowden Bridge.

Andy Rodker, have particularly liked this photo

Wirklich? ;-)
"Kinderstation" klingt aber sehr nach Krankenhaus - dort heissen die Abteilungen für Kinder "Kinderstation" (in Krankenhäusern, die nicht ausschliesslich für Kinder zuständig sind).

No the direct translation does not help.
Kinder is a area name around a mountain Kinder Scout
below it there is Kinder Reservoir and this relates to the construction of the reservoir when a Railway was built for materials needed to be transported. The Railway no longer exists

I have added it to the map so you will see the name is everywhere in that area. Kinder Road, River Kinder ...

I knew it was a general location. I was playing on the world "Kinder", using it in the sense of 'more kind'.

Some things don't make it through translations or cultural differences! ha!

i did understand as we often think of Kinder Scout as unkind to the unwary.
