Striding Edge

A scanned b/w film. 2002 I climbed Helvellyn by Striding Edge from Patterdale via Grisedale and the Hole in the wall path ( a stile rather than a hole ). I remember seeing and talking to a few people on the ascent and at the top. I returned via Nethermost, Dolly Waggon Pike and Grisedale tarn and down Grisedale and never saw another person from leaving the top until almost back to the village.
A most memorable day.

Take care. Herb (English Lake District administrator)
Colin Ashcroft club has replied to Herb Riddle clubI mentioned that this day was very good weather with almost no breeze so that made it easier and I was able to walk the top of Striding Edge all the way along and it’s only at the end that all four points of contact are required to descend a chimney to continue. The next few hundred feet to the top are as near vertical as anything I have ever climbed over such a distance.
