The photo has an atmosphere that reminds me of Tarkovsky's Polaroids, though I'm not sure if you would like them...
Glad you love Tarkovsky... I wanted to own that book, but it is very expensive now.
'Nostalghia' sticks in my mind most. The candle, the pool, the dog...
I have still never seen Solaris - I think I was saving that for some unknown future time.
From Tarkovsky, my favourite film always used to be Stalker, but I've also really come to love Mirror in the past few years. I first saw Stalker in a tender age by lending the VHS from a library, and somehow felt instant affinity. To the visuals, the message, everything in it. Such a delight.
I must see Solaris... my habit of saving the good things up can become a bit extreme... I have CDs by my favourite bands still unopened, and books unread, after years, and more years, waiting for some perfect future time. 'Deferred gratification' - no idea why. Like when you don't wear your good clothes because the day is never special enough. Then suddenly they don't fit any more.
Do you know Bela Tarr? You might like Satantango..?
Turin Horse is memorable -
you'll need a good supply of potatoes for that one too (you'll see... ;)
