When we first came to Munich and got acquainted with the paintings of Carl Rottmann (which isn’t as strange as it seems, as our address was Rottmannstraße, at the time), we couldn’t believe his spectacular skies and cloud formations had a base in reality. Now, of course, we know better.

I really hate to be boring, and can’t help it if I am. Last Thursday, there again was one of those rainbows. We’re getting used to them, though not enough to keep my camera in its bag, and not enough to keep the resulting pictures to myself.
If anything, this picture proves that I badly need a new camera with a 20mm lens: I hate cut-off rainbows almost as much as being boring.

Last December, I was engaged to take pictures of the farewell party of our General Editor. The record wouldn’t be complete if I would appear nowhere, so I took care of that too. Yes, there were mirrors. Yes, I flipped the picture.

It is rather strange to see someone climbing over a fence. It is even stranger to see him preparing for that feat by taking a photograph.

In the early morning of February 21st, when we were about to leave for Holland. It was hard to get away, but we managed with some superficial snow shoveling. The weather at our destination was better, or rather: it required less physical effort.

Got tagged.... Rushes to find camera... Only has phone to hand... State-of-the-art $15 Motorola doesn’t have built-in camera! $*#†! Computer has one, though... "Kerrr-lick!!" And here it is.
Sadly, many contacts with much on their plates. Why bother? :-D
My sincere apologies to Nigel ! Without him, I’d have had to disappoint Sherry (which I don’t like to do).

The pictures I brought home from my last vacation were almost entirely taken in and around hospitals. This one shows a rather intriguing sculpture in the Zaandam hospital.

Munich - Germany’s First Apple Store

Recently Apple opened its first German store in the very heart of Munich. Many curious visitors, who take a look, then go and buy something cheaper. I haven’t been in there, but I’m always ready to pay the price. Steve Jobs must love me.

I can be fond of people, but not when they come in crowds, so I was glad to capture a few scenes of the Munich Christmas Fair before it was ready to rumble.

This is what I discovered yesterday in the window of a Munich pharmacy. The bottles were empty.
