Radda in Chianti is a beautiful medieval town enclosed in large defensive walls. Located up on a hill between the valleys of Arbia and Pesa, it has ancient origins. It has been inhabited since the 9th century and was already mentioned in a document from 1002. In the surroundings of Radda you'll find many castles and parish churches, such as the medieval Castle of Volpaia and the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria in Prato with beautiful flowered capitals in the Romanesque style. Ybor City (EE-bor) is a historic neighborhood in Tampa, Florida located just northeast of downtown. It was founded in the 1880s by cigar manufacturers and was populated by thousands of immigrants, mainly from Spain, Cuba, and Italy. For the next 50 years, workers in Ybor City's cigar factories would roll millions of cigars annually. The neighborhood had features unusual among contemporary immigrant communities in the southern United States, most notably its multi-ethnic and multi-racial population and their many mutual aid societies. A slow exodus out of the area that began during the Great Depression accelerated after World War II, leading to a period of abandonment and decay. After decades of neglect, a portion of the original neighborhood has redeveloped into a night club and entertainment district. The neighborhood has been designated as a National Historic Landmark District, and several structures in the area are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In 2008, 7th Avenue, the main commercial thoroughfare in Ybor City, was recognized as one of the “10 Great Streets in America” by the American Planning Association. Piazza della Rotunda, Rome, Italy Ricky Mastantuono is an incredibly talented acoustic and electric guitarist who "feels" every note! For me, his talent lies, at times, beside Jeff Beck and other times beside Neil Young, depending upon the music he is playing. In any event, he is a fantastic musician!!! Lugano, Switzerland - Madonna degli Angioli Church Altar The church, which was originally part of a Franciscan monastery, is home to Switzerland's most famous Renaissance fresco. It covers the whole wall of the nave. The "Passion and and Crucifixion of Christ" is defined by great expressiveness and vividness of the individual scenes. The whole fresco resembles a magnificent gobelin. Take some time to study it closely. On the left wall of the nave is a large fresco depicting the Last Supper and on the first of the four side altars is also a fresco, depicting the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child. Both are attributed to Luini and reflect the influence of Leonardo da Vinci. The church is located on Piazza Bernardino Luini, at the end of Via Nassa, the city's elegant shopping boulevard. We saw this gentleman playing the piano, which, evidently, is left on the wharf. I had a visit with him and asked if I could take his photograph. I did not want to impose.
