A beautiful picture!
Unfortunately, the old town of Kashgar had already been largely destroyed by the Chinese during my visit in 2014 and rebuilt as a pseudo-historical old town. Greetings Günter

Hi Günter. We were there in 2000 and spent a few days in the genuine old mud brick city, which was amazing. This time was just the last 2 days of a road trip across Central Asia. We came across the Kyrgyz border and flew home from Kashgar. It was sad to see the real old city gone, but an interesting social observation to see thousands of Chinese tourists thinking the new city was really the old!
