Grapes and Wine
The basket press
To finish my series from the Rockford winery, here is the traditional 1890 "Basket Press" used to extract the juice from the grapes. Unfortunately it was not in action when I visited. The note shows a bottle of Rockford's prized "Basket Press Shiraz" from 2006. Which leads to this musical link. HFF and have an enjoyable weekend, everyone.

Working the winery
Rockfords winery prides itself on following traditional wine making processes, such as pressing the grapes in basket presses: that's one in the foreground. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone. Here's a musical link.

Still at Rockford
The Rockford Winery has old buildings, some great fences (also last week's HFF) and very good wines, so I keep returning. :-) Whatever ipernity may indicate, this was taken some years ago. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.
Aged shiraz
Australia's Barossa Valley avoided the ravages of phylloxera which decimated European vines in the late 19th century, so these old shiraz vines, at about 170 years, are among the world's oldest. Can't have a good wine without a song. :-)
Outside the window
This ancient pepper tree is trapped in a courtyard outside the tasting room of one of my favourite Barossa wineries. We're looking through one, so here's some windows music. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

The winery
I don't have many buildings in my image stream. Luckily, South Australia has a heritage of great old stone buildings, like this one at Sevenhill Cellars. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

Sevenhill
"Sevenhill" is a winery in South Australia's Clare Valley region. They produce some excellent wines, so not surprisingly a visit there is a high priority when we're over that way. I don't think I've previously posted images from this trip.
Here's a musical link.
2013 looks a promising vintage....

A tasty drop
Tonight we had a visit by good friends and neighbours, with this very tasty 1995 Barossa Valley Shiraz to help celebrate ten years in our current house. The label may be showing its age, but the wine prompted my friend to say it was the best red he's ever tasted: a big call indeed!
