Silo art - Barraba NSW
Over recent years, there has been an explosion of large street art in Australia. In particular, many country towns have found that having such artworks on their grain silos, water tanks and similar structures brings tourists and business to the area.
This was the first silo art that we had seen, completed only at about the time of our travel (during a time of drought). It shows a water diviner, searching for groundwater, with an L shaped stick in each hand. The idea of divining is that, as the diviner traverses the area he is searching, the sticks move if affected by the nearby presence of water. Best viewed large. The artist was Fintan Magee.
I'm about to head off for travels interstate, partly to catch up with more of these silo artworks. With that thought, I'm likely to be largely offline for the next week or so. Best wishes and stay safe, everyone.
