A rare observation...
I have been able to capture this phenomenon in Italy above Monte Baldo at Lake Garda.

Thank you, Peter. These halos are a "standard size' of 22 degrees from the sun or moon. Either way, it needed the super wide lens to also get the planets in.

Thank you very much, Ko. It isn't necessary to live in high latitudes for these (though they occur more commonly in polar regions). The main requirement is a stable layer of cirrostratus cloud formed of ice crystals, usually 10-15 km high. That said, a good full circle halo is less common.

I did not mean the halo (A 22 degree Halo around the Moon)
, but Jupite and Saturn on the "other" side of the Moon...

Never seen a halo in this intensity George...amazingly the other stars can be seen as well!
Wonderful...and I wonder what happens now...is the weather going to be worse?
Peering at the sky is no waste of time these days...we all should take much more time to see the miracles of our sky and universe :)

Thank you, Tanja. There was a thin layer of cloud through half the day today, but no weather with it. Very often though, thin high clouds thicken ahead of cold fronts bringing a weather change.
