Along the Kings Highway

Along the Kings Highway
The Kings Highway in Australia runs between Canberra and the coast. It was closed by the bushfires for several weeks and only recently reopened for traffic. We travelled it yesterday, through some 40 km of forests terribly burnt by the ongoing fires (the fires no longer directly affect the road).

Second (clickable) image in the PiP.

Horrific. We saw something similar in the Atherton Highlands in Din-din National Park, only there it was more or less a controlled burn.

Such a sad sight. Are you getting any rain there yet?

We had some rain about a week ago, Karen. It was probably better on the very coastal strip where we are, but the summer rolls on (some very hot days coming) and it will require far more to break the current cycle.

Thanks, George. That's good that you got some but I know you need so much more there.

Look, I've seen something similar in the Canary Islands. Nature manages to recover...

Sad to see the damage, It's a lovely image, though, such an inviting perspective.

It's so distressing to be following the horrible losses suffered from these fires! But I'm sure that nature will do her usual stellar job of recreating herself. My wife and I pray for all concerned!
