Beijing arches

Beijing arches
The view from our Beijing hotel room. Coming from a small regional town, it was a little daunting to be in a city with a population greater than the whole of Australia! But there were surprises, such as the number of trees and parks and the familiar "arches" (also several other worldwide chains).

Gudrun, Ulrich John, , Rainer Blankermann and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

Terrific capture George, becoming more westernised by the look of things.

Quite westernised indeed, Roger. I've now added a collage of more of the buildings.

Even in my time in HK when I went over to China... they main places were well westernised. They needed tourist money. Things were well organised.. and the people well understood it was vital to the economy.

However.. the more rural you got.. the more basic it got.. but the people were still kind and friendly.

Yes, we were impressed at how westernised everything was - down to road signs with English translations. And yes, the people were very friendly and helpful.

Yes, we avoid them also. Why eat there anyway when you have the opportunity to try the local cuisine?
