Pre-heating the Polaris
This was "my" vehicle during the survey activities, a Polaris "Sno Traveler" (sic). It had the advantage of a very light footprint, just as well in crevasse territory, though the ride over sastrugi was very rough: it shook apart my Weston lightmeter! The engine was a single cylinder four stroke Kohler, here being pre-heated for the day's work.
