outside the church, which is grim and very locked, is this gravestone to richard honey, a carpenter, and george francis, bricklayer, who died attending the 1824 funeral of queen caroline of brunswick, the diana of her day for the working class

this monument, somewhat lost in the n.w. corner of the nave, is probably the most interesting thing here. it was erected by sir nicholas crisp in the 1660s , to be both a memorial of king charles I, and to hold his own heart after his death in 1665. the memorial is probably by jasper latham, the bronze bust of charles is probably by le sueur
