macclesfield bridge, regent's canal, london

macclesfield bridge, regent's canal, london
1816 bridge by engineer james morgan, probably given a hand by nash who was the principal promoter. the cast iron columns are from coalbrookdale; the bridge needed rebuilding after a barge full of gunpowder en route for a midlands quarry exploded in 1874, so tow rope marks appear on both sides of the columns.
