the entrance gatehouse is of the twin towered form preferred in cambridge, here brick with ornate heraldic sculpture of c.1511. the yales support the arms of lady margaret beaufort, mother of henry VII, aganst a background strewn with borage and daisies amongst other tudor badges. above in the niche stands a replacement statue of 1662 of st.john
