all saints, notting hill, london
inlaid colour on the northern clerestory, built on talbot rd. in kensington by william white in 1852-61 for a college of priests that never got going, this church sat as a shell for 4 years before being finished. all of white's fittings have gone, the church sadly misses its spire, yet white's style remains strong, with his angular geometry overlaid by polychromatic detailing.
the rev. walker of st.columb major was the patron, and it is interesting to compare white's work there with his intentions for a complete gothic estate to surround all saints.
