tomb effigy of john stow 1605, author of the survey of london. every year the lord mayor replaces his quill pen around the anniversary of his death on 5 april, and gives away a copy of the survey to a writer on london. the tomb is by nicholas johnson, though stow died in poverty. I had to disinter the tomb from packets of food and fruit which buried it to take these, in fact the entire church is treated in a very cavalier fashion at present.
