Portmerion

Wales - Portmerion

Folder: UK and Ireland
A tourist village designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis along distinctly Mediterranean lines. It is quite surreal and was used as the setting for the cult 60's TV series 'The Prisoner'.

It also has beautiful gardens, some superb trees and a very good collection of Rhododendrons.

Echiums from the Canary Islands self-seed in the gardens here. Frosts are virtually unknown.
