Matylda...
I found that single hair that curled across her cheek most appealing visually. Is it not the little imperfections that add real character to a face, or indeed to a whole person? That ragged glory that confers & confirms our humanity?

Amy...
Recent Offshoot Photography Society session at Wicklow Gaol on the evening of March the 5th 2010. I asked Amy to pretend the metal railings on the staircase in the prison were prison bars, it seemed an appropriate setup all things considered. She gave a haunting impression of someone imprisoned I think you will agree!
Unprocessed jpeg, apart from a tiny contrast boost via Picasa3.

Dún Laoghaire's East Pier on a mild November evening. People transformed into spectres, living ghosts. Is that not what we are all after all?
Dún Laoghaire - my nearest "Hometown".

Powerful torch lights weilded by other members & a red laser zapped at the rocks by myself during a long exposure "painting wirh light" experiment on the rocky shore at Sandycove, Dun Laoghaire, last night. Offshoot Photographic Society nocturnal jaunt. OK, the laser was a bad idea maybe...

Some outakes from my afternoon on La Ramblas in Barcelona a couple of years ago. Possible unpostworthy, I may well delete most later...
Why Not Embrace The Sunset?

Looking West from the Northen tip of Bray Head. . He had a nice view too, if he'd turned off his mobile phone & embraced the magic of the moment. I'ts OK, I suppose I embraced it for him... :)
(in the largest version of this you CAN actually see that he IS talking on his phone, sideways on to the beauty of that sinking star he is ignoring at the time)

Smalltown Boy
Mother will never understand
Why you had to leave
But the answers you seek
Will never be found at home
The love that you need
Will never be found at home
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away.
Bronski Beat
Yet another 2007 scraping from the vault floor recently unearthed.

Sign of the times...
Where there is no mobile phone mast - there's a man with a mobile phone it seems!
I asked myself - "why can't he turn it off for five minutes even & actually take in the view?". He didn't. Why did he bother climbing up then? To ring his friend & say - "guess where I am now?". Probably...
Bray Head again. A 2007 scraping from the vault floor...

And I saw it fly by, just after the rain, at sunset. Then later I saw it again, frozen in this moment, forever...

And I say, it's alright...
Up at 6am this morning. Pitch dark still outside, with the wind howling & the rain dripping down my bedroom window. I knew I'd have my camera with me on the off chance it would clear & I might catch a glimpse of the sunrise later. I was driving by my favourite field in County Wexford at just the right time about an hour after I left home.
I'm really glad I had the camera in the boot of my car. A quick photographic pitstop - then on again towards Waterford. It was lashing rain five minutes on down the road. That's Ireland in November. Ye pays yer money & yiz takes yer chance... :)
I have this in RAW too so when I get round to processing that it'll look even nicer etc etc... .

...really is more important than the final destination.

It turned out to be one Journey I am very glad I made.
I'm also really glad I had the camera in the boot of my car. A quick photographic pitstop - then on again towards Waterford. It was lashing rain five minutes on down the road. That's Ireland in November. Ye pays yer money & yiz takes yer chance... :)
I have this in RAW too so when I get round to processing this properly & not very crudely in Picasa as you can see here it'll look a lot nicer, without that lensflare at the bottom etc etc...
