Sorry - am I missing something? Surely "potable" is the correct word here.

adjective formal
adjective: potable

safe to drink; drinkable.
as in "there is no supply of potable water available"

Origin
late Middle English: from French potable, from late Latin potabilis, from Latin potare ‘to drink’.
