The Great Door to the Stratosphere Chamber
Brooklands Museum - The huge Great Door to the Stratosphere Chamber built to designs of Barnes Wallace. With the museum descriptive panel and a view, under the door, of one of the wheeled carriages with its traversing gear used to operate and position the door. This gallery also contains the control panel and the mechanical plant required for the operation of the stratosphere chamber. Originally designed to test aircraft engines, the chamber has latterly been used to test boat engines amongst other things.
