Inside the Mill

Inside the Mill
Inside Dunster Mill, which is still working. It was not in action on the day we visited, but it was a good opportunity to talk to the mill workers who were selling their goods.

An interesting sight. But the mill no longer seems to be in operation...?

Thank you Udo. It is a working mill still but not on this day, which gave us the opportunity to have a good look around it.

Thank you very much Günter. It would have been nice to see the mill working on that day, but the mill workers were very interesting to talk to and could tell us a lot of the history of the place.
Best wishes and good evening, Rosa.

Another really fascinating series Rosa. I like those old scales in the main image (and I'm old enough remember them being used in the shops). I also like the Longfellow poem at the bottom of the middle framed glossary.

Good to see the machinery in the two PiPs............it must get very loud in there when it's all up and running (and dusty or should that be floury?). Most of the wooden beams and metal parts look pretty original to my eyes!

All three shots nicely composed and exposed too. Great work and thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much Keith. It would have been nice if it had been working that day, but I have been to Sturminster mill when it was in action, and yes, it is very floury :-)

Aye, a good while since I was last in a mill like this. A great series here Rosa and you sum it all up very nicely in these three pictures. Like Keith, I remember scales like this in action too. Good to see the framed glossary and poem too. Well done.

Cheers, Herb

I also love to visit a mill, especially if it's still working. The lovely lady who owned the B&B we stayed at in Herefordshire, had some of these scales in here kitchen. They are large! I'm impressed that you and Keith could read the glossary, as it's a bit out of focus...sorry about that :-) Cheers, Rosa.

Wonderful images Rosalyn at one time it would have been the latest technology, if it's like Lode Mill at Anglesey Abbey you would have struggled to talk to anyone when it's running

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Thank you Peter. It's all still working, so can't be bad. It would have been nice to see it working, but as you say, very noisy. Good evening.

Did you walk down to the mill from the castle Pam. It is a wonderful walk, with views over the village and mill. The easier way would be along the road, which is also lovely, passing the little shops and a very nice Inn.
Wishing you a good weekend ♥
