Alone.....for now!

This girl was happily going up and down this stretch of the River Stour, when suddenly a swan few in, straight at her, and hunted her out of the river very aggressively. He must have been protecting a nest, but we couldn't see one. It was probably the other side of the bridge. Once she was out of the water the swan ruffled his feathers, made sure she didn't get back in, and flew away!

What a series, so cool! Yes, birds can get very aggressive at nesting time. In Iceland I was attacked by arctic terns, I had to hold my bag over my head;-)

Das hast du sehr schön dokumentiert liebe Rosa,dass die Schwäne so aggressiv sein können,hab das bei uns noch nie gesehen am See,aber wenn ich drinnen bin,ist es eher ruhig,hast dafür aber sehr schöne Aufnahmen bekommen liebe Rosa:))

They are very protective when nesting Gunter. I was once chased by a swan when I walked past its nest by the canal. I think it was my dog that they didn't like, but she ran faster than me ;-) Thank you for your kind comments.
