The Market House ~ Castle Cary

A stunning historical building, Rosa. When I first read 'The Shambles' I thought you been to York! ;-)
Now what is AV equipment? I'm sure this isn't avail;able in Ruyton XI Towns.

I had a lovely walk around Castle Cary yesterday. I was hoping someone would tell me what AV was!! I see now that you have, so thanks for that :-))

I suppose it could be Audio/Visual. Our local meeting place has a loop system which I find very useful.

A very unusual and very old looking building, Rosa. As noted, it's great that it's been given a useful new public use.

Thank you George. There is also a market in front of the building every week and a hall often used as a wedding venue.

A familiar scene very well captured from both elevations Rosa, I particularly like the lower image where the sun highlights the colour of the stonework

Such a beautiful old building............I love the honey-coloured stonework. It's really good that it's been put to good use, but also that they've resisted "modernising" the outside as well.

The main image is really well composed with super detail and lovely leading lines. The closer alternate view in the PiP is just superb.

a very imposing building and well photographed Rosalyn, many meat markets throughout the country seem to occupy grand architectural buildings such as this. Smithfield in London is another.

I remember Castle Cary, Rosa, as the place where the beautiful vintage tearoom was. We have a Castlecary (one word) in Scotland too. It's a place steeped in Roman History. It's on the line of the Antonine Wall. I love the row of columns in your pic. I love also the way the bollards echo the line of the columns. The perspective is very effective. The curve of the road acts as a good lead-in line, that takes the eye deep into the scene. Cheers, Joe
