Ashmore, Dorset.

Ashmore, Dorset.
Taken on Friday, the pond was almost frozen....can't get the skates out yet! Situated high up on the downs about 5 miles south of Shaftesbury, Ashmore is the highest village in Dorset. On a clear day there are views over the New Forest to the Isle of Wight and south as far as Bournemouth, Poole and the Purbeck Hills.

A lovely set of picture postcard England how does the county meet it's obligations for building new houses ??? fields disappear at an alarming rate in this area, although further expansion of Groby is almost impossible I basically live on a large traffic island. No frost here this morning I've been on Kinver Edge very murky but not that cold, I hope you have a nice Sunday Rosalyn

I don't know the answer to that Peter, but here in my village we have stopped a planning application that would have almost joined the village with Wincanton. I expect they will try again though. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Kinver Edge. I will catch up with your gallery later.

That's a really pretty village................and you were lucky with the weather that day!

I love your composition in the the main image, to give prominence to that lovely memorial cross and the light has brought out some fine details in the stonework. The (really tidy) pond and the houses make a super background.

I like the images in the PiPs too, especially the lovely light in the seceond one.

I am able to access IP from my computer (an iMac), but IP still shows up as an unsecure site and I get occasional warnings about trackers and third-party cookies.

Thank you for your very kind comments Keith. My eldest daughter lives in the village and she can't believe her luck! It has a great community spirit. The pond is ancient and is beautifully kept.

I still cannot access ip on my computer. All I get is that their security certificate expired yesterday! Like you have seen, it has always displayed as an insecure site. It has taken me ages to type this message on my phone so I hope the problem is soon resolved. Thanks for your input.

Lovely images, beautiful insets. What a pretty setting and a lovely little town. I have never skated on a pond before, I think I would be too scared to chance it unless I was sure it was solid!

Thank you for your kind words Janet. No I have never skated on a pond either. I'm too old to risk it now!! Even at the skating rinks I just watch now ;-))

I'm sorry for the problem you are having, Rosa...like Keith, I am able to access IP from my iMac computer and the site shows up as insecure. I hope the problem will be solved soon.

Your pictures show a charming village indeed...your daughter is lucky to live there! I like the lightening on the memorial cross in the main picture and the frozen pond in the first of the Pips.
Have a nice new week!

Everything seems OK with this site today Adele, thankfully! My daughter always liked a certain cottage in this village and couldn't believe her luck when she saw it for sale. It needs a lot of work. That's why I am up there so much at the moment :))
I wish you a nice week too.

That is high for NL Fred. Must be able to see it for miles (or km)! I see there is a lot of snow on mainland Europe. None here yet, but a nice bright day today.
