Hedgehog in the well!

Hedgehog in the well!
There is a well in my front garden with 50cm sides and a removable cover. We often check it as hedgehogs somehow get inside and cannot get out! Yesterday I found this little one in there, so fed it and then placed in the hedge and quite by chance, where there was another baby and an its mum in that very spot!

Aren't they sweet! You must be doing everything right for hedgehogs to like your garden:-)

Thank you Gudrun. Lots of leaves for them to hide under and I think this may be the hedgehog we found in the well last year and put her into hibernation! I hope it is, with her new family :-))

I was very pleased to have found the mum Frans. The two dogs are only let out in the back garden so they won't find the hedgehogs. Thank you for your interest and kind comments.
Best wishes, Rosa.

What a lovely ending, Rosa. I wonder how the babies manage to get into the well. Have you discovered the answer yet?

No I just don't know Amelia, but I do check it every day. I think I will make a little ramp for them to get out!

So lovely to see your cuties Rosa...
All warm days are not good for the little ones... Good to help them!
We don't have rain till now for about 4 weeks. And next week there will also don't fall rain. It's very dry in the whole Netherlands...

Thank you for your lovely comments Christien. They have chosen the coolest spot under the hedge I think, but the little one went walkabouts ;-) We had some rain during the night but not really enough. It sounds like we are all experiencing the same conditions.
Have a good weekend. Greetz, Rosa.

Ah he's nice. We once had an hedgehog too but unfortunately have not seen one in our garden now for years. My brother-in-law has one or two in his and can hear there little grunts and shuffling under the leaves on these warm nights. Nice to know that you are watching over yours.

Best Wishes, Herb

I leave them alone as much as possible but try to keep an eye out for them. They are under the beech hedge at the moment, keeping cool. There is a field behind, so I hope they go there eventually rather than try to cross the road! I was very lucky to get a picture of the hoglets face though.
Best wishes, Rosa.

Oh how adorable Rosa. It is nice that you look out for them. My son and his girlfriend had tiny hoglets to look after from the animal rescue centre recently. That is what I call bringing your work home with you!

It's lovely that your son is able to do that Carol. Is it Secret World Rescue Centre? I love visiting there when I'm in the area. Thanks for your nice comments. Have a good weekend.

I'm pleased you were able to rescue it, I've not had one in the garden for a couple of years, I did unfortunately drown one on the allotment I was digging a hole for a post and it fell in. I hope you have a nice Sunday Rosalyn Summer House ???

Oh dear, that was unfortunate Peter! It's going to be a very hot day today, so may be best to satay at home with the dogs. Have a great day and keep cool!!

Hi Rosa,

Really nice to see that you have hedgehogs in your garden, and are looking after them. I have not seen any for a long time.

Best wishes, and a good week ahead.

Hi Peter,

I think they would be well hidden from me if they didn't keep falling into the well. I look every day, just in case! They are lovely to have around. Thank you for your kind comments.

Best wishes, Rosa.

Awww, adorable! Poor little things, it's a good thing they've got "lifeguards" where they happen to fall in.

We still see one of them Diane but unfortunately one was run over crossing the road! We have fields behind but no, they have to try and cross the road!! :-(
