Lovely. But what is SSC? I don't think any of these applies :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSC

oh, sorry, SSC is the shorthand for the group 'Saturday Self-Challenge' that i belong to. didn't mean to confuse! ( think my favorite is "Safe, Sane and Consensual" - though I don't really want to understand the details of that!)

glad you like it - thanks.

this was taken with my phone - and now i realize i need to calibrate my laptop computer screen (because this photo seen on my phone has much more yellow in it). i also need to calibrate it to my printer. does anyone have words of wisdom about this?

I'm sorry I can't help you with calibration. I was just wondering about that myself.

Your image looks good, Laura. I like how you really filled the frame. I am wondering what plant this is that's flowering already since I know you aren't too far from me. :)

there are some odd few gardens near me that have tons of blossoms - most are down in Portland proper (50 ft above sea level). this flower is from a Daphne bush. i couldn't believe it when i saw it. it's probably very unhappy tonight as we have snow and ice here now.

Thanks, Laura. What a pretty name that is. I bet it's freaking out from this cold spell though. :(

The forecast is for a long cold period here. I'm ready for spring! :))

It's a lovely photo - I'm afraid I'm not computer savvy at all - I can barely use my own computer!! LOL. I like this flower picture - but again I don't know the name of it.

It looks ok to me there are bound to be variations, when you think about it there is no way of knowing if we are seeing the same colour, when we were small we were told grass is green but is the colour you call green the same colour I call green ????

oh wow - i think about that often! i thought i was the only one. there is no way for us to know for sure that we actually see the same thing. imagine, we each have s very specific, and different, concepts of the word "home" - not exactly the same thing as color variation, but maybe you understand. i suppose in the end it doesn't matter, what matters is how we feel when we see the colors - and that's an endless variety!

Die Bildaufteilung ist schwierig. Die Blüte ist so sehr an den Rand gerückt ...

I think it is a problem with the color. When the leaf is a strong green and high contrast, it become the main part of the photo and the flower just an accent. In this rendition, the flower on the edge could be off putting.

Oh, yes. I mean it's the kick of this week's challenge: only 1 shot, and SOOC (I for my part failed - and cropped).
It's always frustrating to have a look on the camera-display (there it looks o.k.), and in the end it
looks a bit different. Here it's something with the color- contrast, and may be the 16:9 format ...

I normally wouldn't use my phone camera (low quality, not my favorite format) for a challenge like this, but I'm a bit crippled still from my wrist, so my good camera isn't much of an option right now. But I still love the challenge - and if I knew my phone camera better, I should be able to succeed. It's not the camera, it's the photographer after all!

I might try and process this photo in Lightroom and see if it improves.

Oh wow! Great job!! I think I'd fail miserably but it would take me hours of looking through the viewfinder at a zillion things...only to take that one picture and...MEH! :D

Nicely done with the pink/purple colour accent on top!
If you think your laptop isn't calibrated right then mine is off too because it shows the colours in your photo on the cool side. Might it not be the other way round, that your smartphone display is "optimized" to show colours more vividly and brilliantly? It's something I notice on most mobile devices....
