California – Zabriskie Point (1993)
(Scan from a hard copy)

polytropos club has replied to Gudrun clubOh, just noticed it's Zabriskie Point. Did you see the movie? (I don't remember if I have.)
polytropos club has replied to Diane Putnam clubThe movie left me with an ambivalent impression. The intention was to criticize the student movement and what it was rebelling against, namely the western materialistic consumer society. But it ended in an indefinable mishmash of ideologies, and the dialogues sometimes go to the limit of the bearable in their wooden simplicity.
The milm was even accused in the U.S. of making radical leftist and anti-American statements, and various lawsuits were brought against it (unsuccessfully).
But if you are a big cineaste, of course you must see the film. :-)
