Ein tolles Foto und Tribut für Steck!
polytropos club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew clubWar diesen Winter noch an einem Vortrag bei ihm. Da hat er sein neues Projekt erläutert.
polytropos club has replied to Steve Paxton clubYes, it is really very impressive to stand between this giants of the Himalaya.
It was a 200 mm lens, by the way.
polytropos club has replied to Daniela Brocca clubUeli Steck said that he would die soon rather than later. However I don't think he waited for it though his actions were very strongly linked to the risk of losing his life. We cannot judge, actually, we don't know what pushed him to live at the limits that a human being can face. I only know that mountains call deeply us and sometimes you have to be really strong to say "I stop here, I go back". I guess he almost never went back, until the end. A great Alpinist, anyway.
polytropos club has replied to Andrea Riberti clubThe big tragedy is that it happened during a training session, where he only wanted to acclimatise to the altitude.
I've met him last winter when he introduced his new "Everest-Lohtse-Poject" (see also above the link).
He said that he only is free when he can climb in the mountains. I think he was happier with a shorter but active life than with a longer but boring life.

But, this photograph: beautiful !! The black foreground with silhouettes really accentuates the lighting and height of this massive and photogenic mountain.
Congrats on Explore!
Greetings from Brussels, Sonia
