La Brea Tar Pits
Perhaps the most famous Ice Age fossil site in the world. The animals were trapped in the tar (aspaltum -brea in Spanish) which bubbles up from the ground in the area. Even the bones of a 10,000 year old woman were found in one of the pits. Hancock Park, Los Angeles, California. Scanned 35mm negative. (cssa la K006)
