'Captivated by colour' by Camille Walala - Canary Wharf - 25 2 2023

Nice colours and atmos! Not heard of this line before. Is it new or a re-name? Either way, a good tribute! (Sorry, it shows how long I've been away from London. I last set foot there in 2007!)

The Elizabeth Line is Crossrail's name now it is open for business. The route runs from Reading and Heathrow to Shenfield and Abbey Wood. It is underground after Acton Main Line, running through central London to Canary Wharf, diving down again under the Thames at Woolwich. I am not sure where the northern branch surfaces - maybe Stratford. That part of the line will have to wait for another trip. While I didn't stray far outside the stations, there is a lot of walking within them, along nine-car length platforms and through the connecting tunnels. All the stations have level access, although some of the older stations with previously existing platforms may require ramp access to board the trains.
The only down-side of this walkway was the ribbed floor. The couple on the the right were wheeling several large suitcases along, making quite a racket.
