This resembles a fashion plate -- everyone well and attractively dressed, with the gentleman on the right assuming a striking pose. The photographer picked a good spot, too.

They were a family of upmarket tailors. Judging by who is not in most of the photos, I think that the master tailor and head of the household, Walter Pritchard, probably took many of the photos. The lady with the large muff is my grandmother and she seems to have inherited some of Walter's photographic skills.
They are not often as stiff and posed as this. There are many lovely scenes of picnics, days at the seaside and trips out on motorbikes or in cars. They certainly had a more adventurous time than we had, a couple of generations later.

La moda masculina del gentleman inglés cuajó en Bilbao, por las muchas relaciones comerciales que por entonces existían. Tanto que aprendieron a jugar al fútbol practicando con los ingleses destacados aquí y de ahí el nombre que tomó nuestro primer equipo Athletic Club de Bilbao en 1898 y entrenadores ingleses como Mr. Pentland?

I get the feeling that some people are less interested in posing than others for this one!

The twins have had enough. The twins are the ones who ride motorbikes and go travelling in Europe later in life. I thought my Dad was bad enough dragging us outside for family groups to mark birthdays or visits from relatives, but their Dad seems to have been everywhere with his camera and a couple of his children followed in his footsteps. So we have a mountain of albums and photos from that side of my family.
